Gang assaults two youths with deadly weapons in Coimbatore | Coimbatore News

COIMBATORE: A six-member gang chased three youths and assaulted two of them with deadly weapons in full public view near SNV Marriage Hall at Ram Nagar in Coimbatore on Tuesday.
The injured youths have been identified as N Ranjith, 23, of 9th Street at Gandhipuram and T Nithish Kumar, 21, of VOC Nagar at Ganapathy. Ranjith was working in a private firm, and Nithish Kumar was working as a dancer in a dance school. Their friend Karthi managed to escape from the gang.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that Ranjith was facing a criminal case while Nithish Kumar was facing a woman harassment case.
The duo, who had obtained conditional bails, visited the combined court complex on Tuesday morning to sign.
They were returning from the court on a motorcycle. Karthi was riding the motorcycle while Ranjith and Nithish Kumar were travelling pillion. A six-member gang followed them on two motorcycles and intercepted them in Ram Nagar. Karthi managed to escape, and the two pillion riders were assaulted by the gang.
Ranjith sustained injuries on his left wrist, hand and right thigh while Nithish Kumar sustained injuries on his right knee.
Locals tried to chase the gang members who managed to escape from the spot.
The Kattoor police reached the spot and admitted the two injured youths to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH)
According to sources, there was a rivalry between the injured and the gang. The gang members gave a warning to the injured by assaulting them.
The police formed two special teams to nab the gang members.
