Sambalpur: A 69-year-old man had a narrow escape when he fell into the Mahanadi river while taking a selfie on Tuesday. He was on the second bridge over the river at Chaunrpur area of the city when he slipped and fell. Fire officials rescued Surendra Mohan Mishra from the river.
Mishra, a retired government employee, said, “I had lost all hopes of survival while I was being swept away by the river. However, I managed to grab on to a bush and was later rescued.” He said his mobile phone also fell into the river. “It occurred as a result of my neurological problems,” Mishra added. TNN
