Bihar Natives Rob Two Women Of Gold, Held | – Times of India

Coimbatore: The Saravanampatti investigation wing police arrested two men on Tuesday for robbing an elderly woman of gold bangles weighing 4.5 sovereigns from her house at Varadaraju Nagar on FCI Godown Road here last Friday (Sept 8).
A police officer identified the arrested people as S Kanhaiya Prasat, 43, and R Karan Kumar, 28, both natives of Munger district in Bihar.
The duo, he said, arrived in the district 10 days ago and took a rental room at Kavundampalayam. “Around 11.30am on Friday, they visited Varadaraju Nagar on a motorcycle and found the front door of a house open. They entered the house and gagged S Pappathi, 71, who was asleep in the main hall, with a cloth and tried to remove her gold bangles. When their attempt went in vain, they cut the bangles with a tool and made away with them.”
Pappathi managed to come out of the house and raise an alarm. Her neighbours alerted the Saravanampatti police, who formed a special team to nab the robbers.
“We collected CCTV footage from the locality and zeroed in on the robbers. A team led by inspector Selvi arrested the duo today (Tuesday) morning. During interrogation, they also confessed that they had stolen nine sovereigns of gold from a woman at Puliyampatti in Erode district on Sunday, when they approached her on the pretext of polishing gold ornaments,” the officer said.
Police have recovered all the stolen gold ornaments from them and seized their motorcycle.
The robbers were later produced before a judicial magistrate, who remanded them in judicial custody.
