Vasco: Police have advised all sarvajanik Ganeshotsav mandals across Mormugao taluka to deploy private security guards and install close circuit television (CCTV) cameras at the venues.
Vasco police convened a meeting of representatives of all sarvajanik Ganeshotsav mandals, during which guidelines on conducting peaceful Ganesh celebrations were issued. The meeting was attended by deputy superintendent of police, Vasco sub-division, Salim Shaikh, Vasco police inspector Kapil Nayak, and Mormugao police inspector Alvito Rodrigues, among others.
“The police will provide security only at night. Loud speakers and music will not be allowed after 10pm, as per the Supreme Court guidelines. Those who want to use sound systems have to apply for permission,” Shaikh told TOI.
“People have been advised to contact the nearest police station or dial 100 in case they find anything suspicious or any suspicious persons loitering in the vicinity of the sarvajanik Ganesh mandals,” said Nayak.
