Delhi woman, brother kill lover in Mussoorie for refusing to marry her | Dehradun News – Times of India

DEHRADUN/MUSSOORIE: Police on Tuesday claimed to have solved the murder of a 24-year-old man found dead in a Mussoorie homestay a few days ago, by arresting a Delhi-based sister-brother duo, from Haridwar.
A senior police officer privy to the investigation said that the victim, Kapil Choudhary, was in a relationship with Kudrat Bashar, 20, a resident of Shaheen Bagh in Delhi, for the past two years. However, a few weeks ago, Kapil told Kudrat that he couldn’t marry her as she belongs to a different faith. Kudrat, who had a tattoo of his name on her wrist, tried to convince him by claiming that she would manage things at her home but he didn’t relent, the officer said.
Angry and upset, she then informed her brother, Abdullah, 18, about it. They convinced Kapil to come to Mussoorie, where they booked a room at a homestay. In the early hours of September 10, when Kapil was asleep, Abdullah slit his throat and hid the body under the bed before fleeing with Kudrat in Kapil’s car.
They were later nabbed by police based on CCTV footage and inputs from informers.
SSP (Dehradun), Daleep Singh Kunwar said, “Kapil, a resident of Roorkee and son of a UP police sub-inspector, used to work as a driver while Kudrat works at a ladies’ tailoring shop in Shaheen Bagh. About two years ago, both had met at a shop in Delhi’s Karol Bagh. They exchanged their contact details and started developing feelings for each other, following which Kapil used to often go to Delhi to meet her.”
Things went awry when a few weeks ago, Kapil told Kudrat that he “couldn’t marry her.” The SSP added: “Once she informed her brother, the latter was enraged by the betrayal. Soon, they plotted to kill him. The arrested duo confessed to their crime during interrogation. They were produced before a local court and sent to jail. Police have also recovered the kitchen knife used for the murder.”
