DMK govt has fulfilled 99% of its poll promises, will complete 100% on Sept 15: Stalin | Chennai News

CHENNAI: The DMK government in Tamil Nadu has fulfilled 99% of the poll promises, chief minister M K Stalin claimed on Wednesday.
He said the government would fulfil 100% of its promises on September 15 when it launches the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam which would provide Rs 1,000 per month to women family heads.
Stalin was speaking at the wedding of Rajapalayam MLA Thangapandian’s son.
He said the parties in the INDIA alliance, formed by opposition parties, have won the recent bypolls in Kerala, UP, West Bengal and Jharkhand.
“The BJP is on a losing streak when it comes to bypolls in the last seven years,” Stalin said.
“Recently, bypolls were held in states such as Kerala, UP, West Bengal and Jharkhand. In all the bypolls, parties in the INDIA alliance won and the BJP lost. A few months ago, the BJP was defeated in Karnataka assembly election, and our alliance partner Congress formed the government,” said Stalin.
“To be more precise, in the last seven years, bypolls were held in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan. The BJP was defeated in all the bypolls, and opposition parties won. People are ready (to defeat BJP) and we have to utilise them,” said Stalin.
In the recent bypoll in Ghosi assembly constituency in UP, BJP candidate Dara Singh Chauhan was defeated by SP candidate Sudhakar Singh, supported by the Congress, with a margin of over 42,000 votes. The victory was shot in the arm of the INDIA alliance as it was the first electoral encounter with the BJP after the opposition parties had come together for the alliance.
Stalin also raised the apprehension that the 2024 Lok Sabha election might be advanced. “But whenever it is held, there is no iota of doubt that we are going to win all the 40 seats including one in Puducherry,” said Stalin.
