BHOPAL: Five persons were killed and several others injured in a altercation, stemming from a dispute over cow grazing rights, between two persons, Prakash Dangi and Pritam Pal, on a local farm in Datia district of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday.
“The death toll has surged to five as a result of a fierce gun battle,” said police.
The confrontation escalated into indiscriminate firing, leading to casualties.
The victims have been identified as Prakash Dangi, Ramnaresh Dangi, Surendra Dangi, Rajendra Pal, and Raghavendra Pal, all of whom succumbed to their injuries sustained from gunshot wounds.
It has been reported that in addition to the fatalities, several others were injured during the clash.
This incident took place against the backdrop of a simmering dispute between the two groups that had been ongoing for the past three days.
Both Prakash Dangi and Pritam Pal had registered complaints related to the dispute at the Civil Lines police station, reflecting the escalating tension.
In response to the volatile situation, a heavy police presence was deployed to the scene to restore order and ensure the safety of the community. Investigations are under way.
