THANE: Six persons have been booked for allegedly abducting two persons and extorting Rs 50,000 after an admission deal to a medical college of a student fell through.
According to the FIR registered, the police said that two of them are Youth Congress party activists who have not been arrested.
The complainant told the police that an acquaintance had approached him asking for help to get admission in a Nerul-based medical college for an MD course. The acquaintance told him that he knows someone from the Youth Congress and through him connected to his other party colleague for the admission. One of the accused told him the rate for the MD course is Rs 67.5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh as commission to him. The complainant told this to the family of the girl seeking admission and they agreed.
Later on August 25, one accused called them to Kalamboli and told them to bring money along but the girl and her parents could not arrange for the amount in time. One accused got irked with the delay and called the complainant to a specific spot. As soon as he reached, the father of the complainant and one other friend were made to sit in an SUV and were driven towards Kapurbawdi. The accused was upset that the complainant and others had wasted their time. He asked for money and the complainant paid Rs 49,980 to rescue his father.
