CHENNAI: Southern Railway has spent 43% of the capex (capital expenditure fund) allocated for the year by fast tracking infrastructure projects to build new assets and passenger amenities.
In the first five months of the financial year 2023-24, the zone incurred a capex of Rs 4,207.16 crore, meeting 43% of the target for the year.
The railway zone has taken up redevelopment around 90 railway stations under Amrit Bharat station scheme. It has also been doing track upgradation work to increase the speed of trains and installing amenities for passengers.
