Ponda: The Ponda police on Wednesday booked a teacher from Kendriya Vidyalaya, at Curti-Ponda for allegedly assaulting a 13-year-old student on Tuesday afternoon.
The parents learnt about the assault after school hours when they found the minor boy had developed some bleeding from his head.
Parents took the boy to Ponda sub-district hospital on Tuesday and officially lodged a police complaint on Wednesday. Based on the complaint, the police have booked Kedarnath Ram, 65, a contractual teacher of the school.
On Tuesday, some students had placed a paper with glue on the teacher’s chair. Unaware about the prank, the teacher sat on it, and the paper got stuck to his trouser.
“The victim brought this to his notice. However, instead of thanking the student for alerting him, the teacher slapped him. Due to the force and impact, the student was pushed towards the wall. The student started bleeding as his head hit the wall,” police said.
An offence under Section 323 of the IPC and Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act has been registered against Ram.
