Cop Booked For Man’s Suicide | Rajkot News – Times of India

Rajkot: A constable serving in Kotda Sangani police station near Rajkot was booked for abetment to suicide after a 36-year-old kirana shop owner died by suicide, alleging mental harassment and threats by the cop. Ramesh Soyaliya, a resident of Satapar village adjoining the city, consumed poison at his shop on Tuesday. He was taken to a private hospital where he died after a few hours. On August 3, his wife Ratan hanged to death for some unknown reasons. Her family had not lodged any complaint or pointed fingers of suspicion against Soyaliya.
However, the accused cop Ashok Dangar allegedly called Soyaliya to the police station and threatened to frame him in the case. The deceased’s brother Jignesh, who lodged a complaint, alleged that the cop Ashok Dangar had called Soyaliya on Tuesday and again threatened him saying he had forced his wife to commit suicide. He said Soyaliya consumed insecticide to end his life. In the hospital, Jignesh recorded his video while inquiring about Dangar’s threats during which Soyaliya revealed about the harassment. The family refused to accept the body unless Dangar was arrested and they also met the Rajkot rural SP after which the offence was lodged. TNN
