Ludhiana: A 28-year-old woman, who had in June accused SAD (Amritsar) functionary Furkan Qureshi of attempting to rape her, has threatened to commit suicide with her three children on Thursday if the police do not arrest Qureshi and drop an FIR registered against her at Division V police station.
The woman on Wednesday reached the office of police commissioner Mandeep Singh Sidhu, seeking Qureshi’s arrest. She said she had also met DGP Gaurav Yadav and he had assured her of Qureshi’s arrest and cancellation of the FIR.
On Tuesday, the woman had gone to the commissioner’s to request him to arrest Qureshi, who too reached the spot to lodge a complaint against the woman for threatening him. The two got into a scuffle during which Qureshi slapped the woman, after which she tore his clothes. After this, a case as registered against the woman at Division V police station.
