Guwahati: A Class III student was forcibly taken out of a private school in upper Assam’s Sivasagar district on Wednesday morning, allegedly by his mother.
The incident took place in Montessori Jatiya Vidyalaya, from where the student, 10-year old Anikit Duwari, was forcibly taken away, teachers said.
The school management lodged an FIR at Amguri police station but as investigation progressed, police sources said as per information available with them, Anikit’s own mother, Puja Das Duwari, was involved in the incident. An investigating police officer said Anikit’s parents had been living separately for quite some time now. Police sources said on Wednesday evening, the boy was spotted with his mother at Rojamoidam in Jorhat. A team of Sivasagar police was on its way to verify his identity.
“Anikit was with his mother at his maternal grandparent’s home in Jorhat district earlier but when his mother went to Guwahati a few months ago, the boy’s father, Abhijit Duwari, took Anikit with him to their Sivasagar home. The mother was not allowed to meet the boy by his father. So today, she took away Anikit with her,” the police officer said.
