Grief-struck Dihor Villagers Cremate 10 Accident Victims | – Times of India

Rajkot: The sight of six ambulances arriving unleashed a flood of emotions in Dihor village near Bhavnagar as wailing relatives and friends prepared for the funeral of 10 residents who were killed in a road accident near Bharatpur in Rajasthan on Wednesday.
The bodies of 10 out of the 12 victims were brought by road in six ambulances at around 11:30 am on Thursday. These were kept in the village’s primary school where people gathered to pay their last respects.
The bodies were then taken to their respective houses to complete the final rituals. Later, the funeral procession joined by around 10,000 people was carried out and the bodies were taken to two crematoriums.
Three were cremated at the Paliwal Brahmin community facility and seven at another crematorium. Of the 12, one person belonged to the adjoining Paniyari village and another was from Bhavnagar city. “We have no words to describe our grief. This is the first time we cremated so many bodies together,” said a villager.
The voluntary curfew continued for the second day with shops and schools remaining closed.
According to officials, all the injured persons and those who escaped unscathed were taken to their native places.
The private bus carrying 57 pilgrims had broken down near Bharatpur when a speeding truck crashed into it and then ran over those standing on the road early on Wednesday. They were on their way to Mathura after offering prayers at Pushkar in Rajasthan.

Ukraine backtracks on retaking village near Bakhmut
Ukraine’s deputy defense minister, Ganna Malyar, backtracked on her earlier announcement that Kyiv had retaken the village of Andriivka near Bakhmut. Ukrainian soldiers on the ground disputed the claim, stating that fighting was ongoing in the area. Malyar later clarified that there was heavy fighting in Andriivka and blamed the initial announcement on a “communication breakdown.” Bakhmut, which was captured by Russian forces in May, has seen Ukrainian forces pushing back and making incremental gains. Andriivka, located south of Bakhmut, has a small pre-war population.
