Rajkot: Three persons including two children died of electrocution in two separate incidents in the last 24 hours ending Thursday evening.
According to the police, Payal Solanki (6) and her brother Pravin Solanki (3) were electrocuted when they accidentally touched a live wire while playing in Nana Sakhpar village of Gondal taluka in Rajkot district on Thursday. Local witnesses said that the live wire had fallen off the electricity pole which the children accidentally touched.
Their father Naresh Solanki who was working in a nearby farm took them to Gondal civil hospital but the two children died before getting treatment. The police have registered a case of accidental death and started an investigation.
Police said that Naresh is a native of Madhya Pradesh and was working as a labourer on the farm of Dhiru Patodiya.
In another incident, a 24-year-old man was electrocuted to death in Nani Vavdi village of Morbi district on Wednesday night when he plugged in his mobile phone for charging.
The deceased identified as Pritesh Babariya was a native of Shergadh village in Keshod taluka in Junagadh district. According to police, the incident occurred at a temporary pavilion erected for a Ram Katha event to be held on September 30. Babariya was part of the team organizing the event.
Morbi A Division police have registered a case of accidental death and started an investigation.
