KAUSHAMBI: Three persons from a family were allegedly shot dead by their neighbour over a property dispute in village Harraipir Moiuddinpur under the limits of Sandipan ghat police station of Kaushambi district early Friday.
The deceased were identified as Brijkali (22) , her husband Shiv Sagar (26) and Brijkali ‘s father Hori Lal (62), residents of Chavilva and Kokhraj respectively.
However, agitated over killings, an irate mob set at least six huts and houses afire after suspecting the role of neighbors dubious.
Upon being alerted, senior police officials including SP Kaushambi Brijesh Kumar Srivastava along with forces rushed the spot and controlled the situation. Large number of people assembled in village demanding stern action against the killers.
Locals told police that all the three members of a family were shot dead when they were sleeping inside their hut late on Thursday night.
SP, meanwhile, said police have been probing the case thoroughly and action would be initiated accordingly.
