NOIDA: Two staffers of a club at the Gardens Galleria mall were arrested and its liquor licence was suspended on Thursday after it was found that they were allegedly pouring liquor of cheaper brands into bottles of the more expensive ones to serve to their customers. A notice was also issued to the club, officials said on Friday.
Subodh Kumar, district excise officer, said that they saw the staffers mixing cheap liquor in the bottles of the more expensive brands. “We saw Kumar mixing the liquors in the kitchen. He told us that he does the mixing on the directions of the restaurant manager. We managed to catch him and Nawaz while two others, Sajjad and Akhtar, managed to escape,” the officer said.
The two have been arrested under Section 60 of the Excise Act and Section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the IPC. “They have been produced in court and sent to judicial custody,” Subodh said.
The excise department also arrested two people from the Wajidpur Pushta road for ferrying 120 cartons of illegal liquor in a truck. “The team was conducting checks and they stopped a truck bearing Rajasthan registration number. There were several illegal liquor bottles in the truck. The two persons sitting in the vehicle are Ranjit Kumar and Santosh Kumar, both residents of Vaishali in Bihar. They had no valid documents to transport the alcohol in Noida,” police said.

The burglar broke open the lock of the shutter and stole 46 boxes of country liquor bottles and Rs 3,000 from the cash box. The police are checking CCTV footage to identify the burglar. In other news, illegal liquor has been seized in Greater Noida, Lucknow, and Indore, leading to multiple arrests.
