BHUBANESWAR: In the past five years, Odisha has cleared investments of Rs 9.95 lakh crore in more than 434 large industrial projects, which are estimated to generate 4.35 lakh jobs, reveals a written reply in the assembly by industry minister Pratap Keshari Deb on Friday.
The minister said that 174 big industrial projects were already commissioned fully or partly with estimated investments of 3.44 lakh crore generating 2.51 lakh jobs. “Sundargarh district had attracted the highest investment of Rs 52,000 crore,” Deb said while replying to a question by MLA Nauri Nayak.
He added that the government had done around 20 investment meetings in various cities since 2018 to attract investments in response to a query by MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati.
During Make in Odisha (MIO) 2018, the second edition of the state’s flagship event, the state had received investment intent of Rs 4.23 lakh crore through 202 projects. Of them, 109 projects had got government approval, including 71 large projects, attracting Rs 3.95 lakh crore investment, the minister said in response to separate queries by MLAs Soumya Ranjan Patnaik and Kusum Tete. The government had spent Rs 34.51 lakh to organise the 2018 event.
In the last edition of MIO in 2022, the state had got 741 investment proposals of Rs 10.48 lakh crore with job potential for 10.37 lakh people. As many as 145 proposals with combined Rs 5.49 lakh crore intent was in minerals, metal and ancillary sector, the minister responded to another query by Makaranda Muduli.
The minister said the government Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation has land bank of 17,979 acre, and falls in category A.
