Green plan: Goa to scout for locations to install large solar energy plants
The state government of Goa is aiming to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2030 by transitioning to solar energy. The government plans to conduct a feasibility study and prepare a detailed project report for grid-connected solar power plants on government and school buildings. They also aim to set up 10MW ground-mounted solar power plants. The study will identify suitable locations and tenders will be floated to set up the plants. The cost of electricity generated and distributed through the plants will be determined in collaboration with the Goa electricity department. Goa has favorable conditions for solar power generation due to its moderate climate and abundant sunshine.

Some inmates at Yerwada jail in Pune become mental health guides
Concerned with the rising cases of suicides among inmates at Yerwada Central Prison in Pune, an initiative called SATHI has been launched. The project aims to train educated prisoners as mental health facilitators who will provide counselling and guidance to fellow inmates. The first batch of 40 educated convicts will undergo a 50-hour training program and will be evaluated before being assigned to help undertrials overcome anxiety, anger, and depression. The overcrowded prison is in need of professional counsellors to help inmates manage stress and provide hope for their future.
