Chintur police arrest dreaded Maoist deputy commander – Times of India

VISAKHAPATNAM: Chintur police have arrested a dreaded deputy commander implicated in the killings of 99 security personnel in various ambushes.
The Maoist of eight platoon of CPI Maoists and Platoon Party Committee Member (PPCM) Madakam Unga alias Ungal, was arrested in the forest area of Lankapalli village outskirts under Chinturu police station of Alluri Sitaramaraju district.
Alluri district SP Tuhin Sinha said that Unga was associated with the Naxalites for the past 16 years. During the combing operations of special party police and CRPF jawans, cops arrested Unga, who was setting up land mines in the forested area along with other Maoists in a view to killing security forces. Cops seized two detonators, two grenades, Cardex wire, Iron pieces, and a cooker.
Madakam Unga, aged 30 and hailing from Palodu Village in the Kishtaram police station area of Sukma district in Chhattisgarh, initially joined the Maoist party as a regular member in 2007, under the influence of LOS commander Sodi Chukka. Over the years, he climbed the ranks within the organization and attained the position of Platoon Party Committee Member (PPCM) in 2017.
Throughout his affiliation with the Maoists, Unga operated in the Chinturu sub-division of Alluri Sitaramaraju district, as well as in the Charla region of Telangana and various parts of Chhattisgarh. His involvement extended to almost 37 criminal incidents spanning Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh, and he was named as a suspect in several of these cases.
