MADURAI: Due to the ongoing flyover construction work, the Madurai city traffic police announced various temporary traffic changes for all vehicles on the stretch of road from Mudakkusalai junction to HMS Colony from Monday onwards.
In a statement, the police said that flyover construction work was is being carried out for around 1,190 meters on the stretch of road from Mudakkusalai junction to HMS Colony and currently work for setting up girders for concrete pillars will be getting under way at Mudakkusalai junction. Hence, the police announced various traffic changes for all outgoing vehicles travelling out of Madurai city to other districts via Mudakkusalai, Theni Main Road.
The traffic changes will be in place from Monday till when the flyover construction work is completed.
Government/private buses and heavy vehicles from Madurai city must turn right between pillar 3 and pillar 4 at Mudakkusalai junction and go via Melakkal Road and then take the left to proceed through Kochadai – Thuvariman four-way road.
All light vehicles, two-wheelers, and a few government city buses will be allowed to go via Kalavasal junction, Sammattipuram, HMS Colony Main Road, HMS Colony junction, towards Virattipathu and Achampathu to exit the city.
All light vehicles are permitted to go as per usual from Nagamalai – Pudukottai four-way road through Achampathu, Virattipathu, and turn at Doak Nagar to go via Kochadai, and Mudakkusalai to enter Madurai city.
However, buses and heavy vehicles will not be allowed to use this route from Nagamalai – Pudukottai four-way road to enter the city and instead have to go via Thuvariman, Kochadai, and Mudakkusalai.
Public have been urged to cooperate with the traffic police and adhere to these temporary traffic changes.
