‘Induct women into cabinet if serious about empowerment’ | Goa News – Times of India

Panaji: Congress on Sunday challenged chief minister Pramod Sawant to “walk the talk” and induct women into the cabinet if the latter was serious about women empowerment and women reservation.
Former state party chief Girish Chodankar said Sawant should induct three women MLAs into the cabinet to prove that BJP is is serious about ‘samman’ (honour) for women. “There is no need of any census or delimitation process to be conducted for the induction process. When he makes tall claims and boasts of giving ‘samman’ to women, he should also consider giving them ministerial berths,” said Chodankar.
A day earlier, Sawant said that BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought in the Women’s Reservation Bill to give ‘samman’ to women.
“If BJP and Pramod Sawant are committed to giving political space to women, then why are women legislatures in Goa deprived of their space in the Goa cabinet,” said Chodankar.
