Surat: Surat police on Sunday nabbed a man in connection with drug peddling in the city. Divyesh Kadva (28) was caught with both charas and ganja and Rs 1.16 lakh cash from posh Citylight area. Kadva had come to Citylight area to sell the contraband. When he saw a police patrol van, he tried to flee. But Vesu police caught him and handed him over to Umra police who booked Kadva under NDPS Act. Citylight area comes under Umra police station jurisdiction. Umra police inspector D D Chauhan said, “A team of Vesu police was going through Citylight area. When they reached near Zudio showroom, a person tried to flee the spot. Police noticed that and immediately rushed to him and cordoned him.” When asked why he was trying to flee, he said that he was carrying charas and ganja with him. Gujarat: Three held in Surat for trying to sell charas worth Rs 4.15 cr they found on the beach
Three men were arrested in Surat, Gujarat, for possessing 8.31 kilograms of charas worth Rs 4.15 crore. The accused had found the contraband on Hazira beach a month ago and decided to sell it instead of reporting it to the police. One of the accused was caught selling high purity Afghan charas, leading to the arrest of the other two. The packets of charas matched those found by the Border Security Force off the Gujarat coast.
