Rajkot: Acting on a tip-off, the special operations group (SOG) of Rajkot arrested two persons, including a cop’s son, with 130 gram of mephedrone worth Rs 13 lakh on 150-feet Ring Road on Sunday night. Police lodged a complaint against Brijesh Paliwal (25), Monar alias Bhano Chihla (25), and Hardik Parmar of Mumbai. Parmar is yet to be arrested. “Chihla’s father is an assistant sub-inspector in the city. They live in police quarters,” said a police officer. Chihla used to get the drugs from Paliwal who was supplied the contraband by Parmar. Paliwal used to give him “pure” drugs in which Chihla would mix some other chemicals to increase the quantity. Chihla himself is a drug addict and wanted to keep some MD with him, the officer added.
Man, son die as van hits their bike
Rajkot: A 33-year-old betel-nut seller and his 12-year-old son died when a pickup van hit their motorcycle from behind near Kharachiya village near Rajkot city on Sunday night. Haresh Kyada was returning home with his wife and two children on the bike from Halenda village. The four were rushed to the civil hospital in an ambulance of 108 emergency services. The father-son duo died after brief treatment at the hospital. His wife Sejal and daughter Trisha (15) are recovering from the injuries. Aji Dam police have lodged an offence against the unidentified van driver who escaped from the spot. The family lived near Ranuja Temple in the city.
