Drug Peddler Who Jumped Bail Nabbed | Surat News – Times of India

Surat: The special operations group (SOG) nabbed notorious drug peddler Ismail Gurjar, who had jumped interim bail granted by Gujarat High Court in July.
Gurjar, who was lodged in the Lajpore Central Jail along with his wife, had applied for regular bail but the court turned down his appeal. He then applied for interim bail on the grounds that he wanted to arrange money for the treatment of his wife. The court had granted him bail from July 22 to August 4.
Meanwhile, his wife got two days’ bail for treatment on September 27. SOG got information that Gurjar had not reported to jail even after the bail period ended and that the couple was planning to flee the country.
The sleuth got a tip-off that he would be coming to a soda shop in the Rander area on Thursday and nabbed him as soon as he came. There was high drama as Gurjar tried to escape and hid in a nearby shop. However,
Gurjar has two cases of drug trafficking registered against him by the Puna police in Surat as well as the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). In August last year, the ATS had busted a mephedrone-making factory in Mokshi village near Vadodara, and he was arrested in this case. The police had seized 225 kg MD worth Rs 22 crore from this unit.
After his arrest, Gurjar’s wife Heena started handling the illegal business, and she was arrested with MD worth Rs 50 lakh by the SOG in April this year
