Two Electrocuted During Immersion | Vadodara News – Times of India

Vadodara: Two persons died in Khambhat town of Anand district on Thursday afternoon during a Ganpati immersion procession when the idol touched a high-tension power line.
The incident took place when the procession, in which the youths from Ladwada area in Khambhat were part of, was passing by Navratna talkies.
The idol touched a high-tension overhead electricity conductor and two persons who were present near the idol got electrocuted. Akash Thakore and Sandip Thakore died on the spot.
Two other youths Nirav Thakore and Darpan Thakore sustained burn injuries and were rushed to a hospital for treatment.
The police has registered the incident as an accidental death and is conducting further investigations amidst allegations that the power supply should have been discontinued in the line as it was done in previous years.

Ganesh Chaturthi is a ten-day festival that celebrates Lord Ganesh as the god of new beginnings and the remover of obstacles. The festival started on September 19 and concludes with the final immersion of the Ganesh idols.
Mumbai: 17,187 Ganpati and Gauri idols immersed in city
On the seventh day of Ganpati celebrations in Mumbai, a total of 17,187 idols were immersed, with 5,147 being immersed in artificial lakes. In Thane, residents continued the tradition of eco-friendly idol immersion. In Nagpur, 1,274 idols were immersed in temporary tanks across the city. In Mumbai, approximately 45% of idol immersions took place in artificial tanks. Arrangements have been made for idol immersion in other cities like Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and Coimbatore. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has requested permission for idol immersion in Aarey Colony.
