Army To Help Educate Underprivileged Kids | Guwahati News – Times of India



Dibrugarh: The Army signed a tripartite MoU of Project DARPAN (Dao and Rising Sun Preparatory Academy in NE) and Project SPEARS (Selection & Preparation for Employment in Army by Rising Sun) with National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO), Coal India Limited and Oil India Limited in a ceremony held at the Dinjan Military Station in Dibrugarh on Friday.
Through this initiative, the Army aims to provide value-based education to underprivileged children of upper Assam. The project will be run under the aegis of the Indian Army’s Eastern Command under the supervision of Dao Division in Dibrugarh.
The project offers free of cost residential coaching facility along with free lodging for approximately 120 deserving children over a span of one year.
“The Indian Army, through these de novo initiatives, aims at establishing a major educational hub in Dibrugarh district to prepare children of weaker sections of society for the NDA and CDS entrance exams. NIEDO & GAPS (Georgian Academy for Professional Studies) will be the agencies involved with providing academic guidance,” the Army said in a statement.

Army turns to ancient Indian texts to prepare for wars of the future
The Indian Army has launched Project Udbhav, an initiative to rediscover ancient Indian wisdom in statecraft, strategy, diplomacy, and warfare. The project aims to bridge the historical and contemporary by exploring India’s rich historical narratives in the realms of statecraft and strategic thoughts. It focuses on indigenous military systems, historical texts, regional texts and kingdoms, and the development of an indigenous strategic vocabulary. The Army plans to integrate age-old wisdom with modern military pedagogy and nurture officers in applying ancient wisdom in modern scenarios. A book listing 75 aphorisms based on ancient texts has already been released.
