‘Govt to bear losses of cattle feed plant’ | Goa News – Times of India

Ponda: The annual general body of the Goa State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union has allowed the dairy administrators to hand back the loss-making cattle feed plant to the government.
The loss-making plant has net liabilities of Rs 7.6 crore.
Chairman of the dairy administrators’ committee Parag Nagarsekar said that the plant was established through the grants provided by National Dairy Development Board. The plant was constructed on land acquired for the directorate of animal husbandry and veterinary services (AHVS).
“The union members have allowed us to hand over the unit to AHVS, on the condition that the plant’s liabilities should be borne by them,” Nagarsekar said.
The union, also known as Goa Dairy, held its AGM on Saturday at Curti, Ponda.
Alleging that the accounts clerk was responsible for the delay in crediting the employees’ tax deducted at source (TDS) into the government treasury, the AGM demanded that the fine imposed for the delay be recovered from the employee concerned of the dairy. tnn
The farmers alleged that the income tax department has imposed a fine of Rs 15,000-18,000 for delay in crediting the amount to the accounts of the income tax department.
