PATNA: One Ashok Kumar (28), who was arrested in connection with the murder of Raj Honey, an accused in the infamous 55kg gold loot case, died during treatment at Hajipur Sadar Hospital late Friday night.
Family members of the deceased created ruckus at the hospital after his death, but the police managed to control the situation. The family members alleged that Kumar died as he was thrashed by the police during interrogation. Till now, three persons linked to the Vaishali gold loot case have died.
Sadar SDPO Omprakash said the real cause of Kumar’s death was not ascertained yet. “We are waiting for the postmortem report,” he added.
Baleshwar, father of the deceased, alleged that his son was beaten up by the police in custody.
