HYDERABAD: A five-year-old boy kidnapped by a couple from Secunderabad Railway Station platform on Friday was rescued on Saturday evening by cops. The cops zeroed in on the couple, both beggars, by tracking the mobile of his father in the bag which they had stolen while taking the boy.
The boy, M Shiva Sai, had arrived at the station with his father M Durgesh after a trip to Tirupati on Friday. Cops said that Durgesh, a barber from Medak, decided to sleep at the platform and made the child sit along with the luggage. When he got up in the evening, Sai was very much there and Durgesh went to the washroom. But when he returned, Sai, who is hearing impaired and mute, was nowhere to be seen, cops said.
After searching for him for a while, Durgesh approached Government Railway Police at the railway station who filed a kidnap case.
When police verified the CCTV footage at the railway station, they found a couple taking the boy and also the bag in which Durgesh had kept his mobile phone before going to the washroom.
As officials lost the trail of the accused after they left the station, they changed tack to track them down using Durgesh’s mobile.
“We contacted the telecom authorities to trace the location of the phone which showed Madhapur. A team went to Madhapur and found them with boy near Cyber Towers,” a GRP official said.
During the initial inestigation, cops found that the accused wanted to use the boy for begging.
The accused, K Vikram and Shaikh Rehana, are beggars from Yapral.
They were arrested and booked under Section 363 (kidnapping) of IPC and they were produced before magistrate.
