Excess water released from Anjunem dam | Goa News – Times of India

Bicholim: The gates of the Anjunem reservoir in Sattari were opened on Saturday to release excess water after the region received 107mm of rainfall.
The dam began to overflow after the water level touched 93.3m, indicating 100% full capacity. All four gates of the reservoir were opened.
Along with Selaulim at Uguem in Sanguem, Anjunem is among the largest reservoirs in the state. Anjunem is the only reservoir which has manual gates, while all other five reservoirs have inbuilt systems for the excess water to overflow.
Throughout 2023, the region around the dam has recorded 4108.4mm of rainfall. .
Officials said that Amthane dam is also overflowing and excess water is being released. Due to heavy rains in the taluka over the last few days, many low-lying areas have been flooded, but no major damage has been reported. Locals have been alerted about the release of the excess dam water into the rivers, officials said.
