AHMEDABAD: A 53-year-old man, a resident of Bapunagar, lodged a cheating complaint with the city crime branch, alleging that Umesh Rathod, Babu Patel, Rajesh Rathod and Narsinh Rathod duped him of Rs 45 lakh.
Pradip Parikh had booked a shop in a commercial scheme and paid Rs 22.15 lakh to the accused. Parikh said he paid Rs 7.15 lakh through a cheque and the remaining Rs 15 lakh in cash. He later decided to purchase another shop in the name of his wife Vinita and paid Rs 23.7 lakh. He said that the deal was registered but he was not given any allotment or possession letter.
When he went to develop the two shops, he realised that both the shops were sold to some other persons.
Later, he got to know that there were no shops on the first floor in Block A and Block E which were later allotted to him.
A case under IPC 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 465 (forgery), and 120(B) (criminal conspiracy) was registered with DCB police on Saturday.
