Tirupur: Information and publicity minister M P Saminathan on Saturday inspected the ongoing work on ESI hospital at Pooluvapatti, another hospital at Velampalayam, rejuvenation of Moolakulam water body and free houses under the housing for all scheme in the district.
An official source said the hospital at Velampalayam was being constructed with the help of Japan International Cooperation Agency under the Tamil Nadu Urban Health Care Project at a cost of 36.43 crore. The three-storeyed hospital would feature 86 beds, he said.
The hospital would house an operation theatre, surgery ward, outpatient ward, maternity ward, neonatal intensive care unit, prenatal and postnatal care centre, and a dialysis centre, among other facilities.
The ESI hospital at Pooluvapatti near Chettipalayam is, meanwhile, being built at a cost of 86.94 crore. “It is a 100-bed facility. About 80% of the work has been completed. The remaining work will be over by the end of this year,” the source said.
At Moolakulam, he said, work was on to strengthen its bunds, remove hyacinth and desilt the water body at a cost of 2.50 crore. Noyyal river is the major source of water for Moolakulam.
Under the housing for all scheme, the source said, 384 houses were being built under the Tamil Nadu Urban Livelihood Mission at a cost of 32.20 crore at Neruperichal.
The minister was accompanied by deputy mayor R Balasubramanian and other officials during the inspection.
