Miracle! Boy from Surat who swept away in high tide found alive in sea after 24 hours – Times of India

SURAT: In a miraculous survival, a 13-year-old boy, Lakhan Devipujak from Godadara area in city, was found alive around 18 nautical miles away from the coast in Arabian sea on Saturday afternoon. The boy had got swept away in high tide on Friday afternoon during Ganesha immersion at Dumas.
Surviving in the sea for over 24 hours, the boy was spotted by fisherman, Rasik Tandel of Bilimora in Navsari. He was afloat on a huge plywood platform that was used as the base of a Ganesha idol. He clung on to the platform to prevent himself from drowning.
“Tandel spotted the platform from a distance and out of suspicion he took the boat closer and was shocked to see the boy on it,” said a police officer. The boy had accompanied his family to Dumas to witness Ganesha immersions. A missing report had been filed at Dumas.
