NOIDA: A 75-day Indian language festival began on September 28 in government schools across the district to promote Indian languages and mother tongues under the National Education Policy-2020.
With the theme, ‘Bhaashayein anek, bhav ek’ (many languages, one emotion), the festival will feature a variety of cultural activities, including poetry recitation, knowledge sessions on the environment and surroundings, science, and mathematics.
“In the last week of the ‘Indian Language Festival’ (dated 07-11 December 2023), various activities/programs related to reading and writing of the works of the great nationalist Tamil poet Shri Subramaniam Bharati ji will be organized,” read an official order by the state education department.
The festival will take place in all government schools in the district and will continue till December 11.

European languages do not have vocabulary like Tamil: Governor
During an interaction with Tamil scholars, Governor R N Ravi stated that European languages lack the vocabulary to accurately convey the deeper meanings of Thirukkural when translated. He emphasized that Sanskrit is the only language that is similar to Tamil in terms of depth and richness. The governor expressed his newfound love for Thirukkural after being introduced to it in Tamil Nadu and offered assistance from state universities for translation work. Private universities have also shown interest in contributing to Tamil literature.
