Rajkot: A 36-year-old woman in Rajkot has accused her husband of 12 years, an ex-Armyman, of domestic violence and threatening her at gunpoint with his licensed revolver. Based on a complaint filed by Hemakshi Gohil with the Rajkot taluka police station on Saturday, the police booked her husband Pradipsinh Gohil under Indian Penal Code (IPC) 498A (husband or his relatives subjecting woman to cruelty), 323 (causing hurt) and 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace). Pradipsinh was also booked under the Arms Act for threatening his wife and her brother at gunpoint.
In her complaint, Hemakshi alleged that Pradipsinh used to verbally and physically abuse and body shame her for being overweight. According to case details, Hemakshi and Pradipsinh got married on August 28, 2011. After marriage, Hemakshi started living at her husband’s house in Sarod village of Bhavnagar. Later, she shifted with her husband to Ambala in Haryana as Pradipsinh got a posting there.
Hemakshi alleged that she started facing verbal and physical abuses while in Ambala where Pradipsinh, after getting drunk, thrashed her and body shamed her. He also threatened to divorce her after he retired from the Army.
During his posting in Jammu, Pradipsinh used to pick up fights with Hemakshi over petty issues. He also humiliated her in the presence of other relatives when they came to visit them in Jammu.tnn
