GURGAON: Residents of The Close South in Sector 50 have alleged that the vacant plot in front of their society has turned into a mini landfill because of poor waste management in the city. Tonnes of solid as well as construction and demolition waste has been dumped at the plot for the last eight months, they alleged.
On complaining, the sanitation staffers pass the responsibility on to the C&D waste division while the latter asks them to approach the sanitation division, residents said. “Truckloads of garbage are being dumped regularly on the vacant plot just across our society near Rajesh Pilot Marg. In the last three months, the area has turned into a mini landfill site. Despite our repeated complaints, MCG has failed to provide a solution.
The civic body should clear the site and fence it properly,” Nikhilesh – war Singh, joint secretary of the society’s RWA, said. Besides, illegal establishment of the Banjara market creates an unhygienic surrounding, they said.
Dwellers are using this land for open defecation, raising health concerns too. Parul Sharma, a resident, said, “Every vacant plot, green belt, and roadside are gradually turning into unchecked garbage dumps.
