Kanpur: Police busted a sex racket operating in a pizza joint in Gwaltoli Tiliya locality under the limits of Kotwali police station in Farrukhabad district on Saturday. Police detained a retired inspector of police and his son in connection with the case.
On the orders of district magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh, city magistrate Satish Chandra and CO City Pradeep Singh, police personnel raided the pizza house on Saturday and caught nine women and 11 men, mostly college students, in a compromising position. They were handed to their family members after interrogation by police.
The district authorities sealed the eating joint. To avail of the facility of a cabin at the eatery, it was mandatory to buy a pizza worth Rs 300, informed police sources.
“For couples, cabin was available, in which they could sit together for an hour, but only after ordering pizzas worth Rs 300 to 400. Also, if a man or a girl wanted to avail of a private room, they were charged Rs 1,000,” said police sources. According to locals, a lot of young men and women used to visit the restaurant everyday.
SP Vikas Kumar said retired inspector Pramod Agnihotri and his son Sanjeev Agnihotri, a contractual employee in the basic education department, were found involved in operating the prostitution racket and had been detained for interrogation.
