COIMBATORE: A 33-year-old woman from Selvapuram was cheated of 15.74 lakh by online fraudsters.
K Dheena Sudha, 33, wife of Kannan from SA Garden at Muthusamy Colony in Selvapuram lodged a cybercrime complaint on Saturday. She said she received a message on the Telegram app on August 7 from a stranger who asked her to complete 30 tasks per day, for which she was promised money.
The man then sent her a link on telegram and asked her to give ratings for some hotels, through a website. “Eventually, I invested 11,000 online and earned a profit and commission amounting to 20,274. Again, I invested 17,324 and received 40,456 as profit and commission,” said Dheena Sudha in her complaint.
She paid 15.74 lakh in instalments from August 7 to September 11, and then the scamster went quiet.
