Mysuru: KPCC spokesperson M Lakshmana on Monday claimed that 20 to 25 MLAs from BJP and JD(S) are ready to join Congress. “More than half the JD(S) MLAs are ready to join Congress. Our high command is yet to green light it, he said. Speaking to reporters, he refuted the allegation of senior Congress MLA Shamanuru Shivashankarappa that Lingayat community is sidelined by the Siddaramaiah government. He said Siddaramaiah never did caste politics in his political career and that the Congress government has seven Lingayat ministers and is taking all castes together.
He also contended that Shivashankarappa is misled and accused BJP of trying to misuse his statements. “I want to know the representation given to Lingayats during the previous BJP government,” he said.

Senior MLA and president of All India Veerashaiva Lingayat Mahasabha, Shamanur Shivashankarappa, has expressed his support for a Lingayat chief minister, stating that the Lingayat community has been neglected under the rule of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. JD(S) MLAs face uncertainty after partys tie-up with BJP
Four MLAs from the JD(S) in North Karnataka are uncertain about their future after the party announced its alliance with the BJP. They had opposed the BJP in the 2023 assembly elections, relying on secularism to win. The MLAs are waiting for assurances from the party leadership and believe that the alliance will only benefit the BJP. However, one MLA who had joined JD(S) from the BJP is said to be happy about the alliance. Discontent is brewing within both parties over the forced alliance, and they plan to address these concerns in a meeting.
