Kanpur: Daksh Khandelwal and Tanya Rana stole the show when they won triple and double titles in the District Table Tennis championship which concluded at the indoor hall of Green Park stadium on Monday. Daksh won the under-15, 17 and 19 age group boys titles defeating his rivals. Tanya Rana won under-19 girls group and women titles. The men’s title was won by Satyam Giri Gupta. After all finals, chief guest Arun Pathak, member of UP Legislative Council and Sanjeev Pathak, president of State Table Tennis Association gave away prizes to the winners. TNN

Karanpal Jadeja of Bhavnagar emerged as the winner in the men’s final of the Gujarat State and Inter-District Table Tennis Championships, defeating top seed Akshit Salva. Tamil Nadu topped the table and won the ACAs quadrangular tournament despite their last round match against Andhra being abandoned due to rain. Railways finished second. In chess, Apaar Saxena won against SV Danish in the under-11 National chess championships. Salem Steel Plant won the all-India steel plants volleyball championship. K Pamela Alive won gold in the district powerlifting championships. The Krishna district girls team won bronze in the AP under-17 SGF volleyball championships. Nomura Group has upgraded India’s ratings to ‘overweight’ due to strong macro-economic fundamentals. Indian tennis players made a strong start in the Asian Games.
