The incident was reported from village in Junagadh’s Bilkha town.
About four months ago, the 35-year-old woman had received a friend request on Instagram from a person named Ali Paleja. She accepted the request and Paleja started chatting with her. He somehow convinced her to give her address. The woman was briefly staying at her mother’s house and shared the address and other family details with him.
One day, he went to her house and noticed that she was alone. The complaint states that Paleja brandished a knife and threatened to kill her. He then forced her to undress and clicked her photographs which he immediately shared with his brother.
Paleja then started threatening the woman with social vilification by circulating the photographs and raped her several times. He allegedly even threatened to kill her 12-year-old son and husband, the complaint states.
The woman mustered courage and narrated the trauma to her husband, who encouraged her to lodge a complaint.
Paleja, a casual labourer, was arrested by the Vanthali police in Junagadh and booked him under section 376 (2) (N) (repeatedly raping the same woman and other relevant sections).
